Lemon Grass

Lemon Grass is a perennial in our Florida zone.  Leaves remain green most of the year.  It can grow to 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide.

Used in Thai-style foods/soups/curries.  Can also be a natural mosquito repellent around your home or in the garden.

Planting

Plant in full sun during the Spring.  It can grow tall and up to 4 feet wide, so space accordingly.

Caring

Lemon Grass needs warm humid conditions.  Fertilize weekly during June – September (high nitrogen) for best results.

Harvesting

Harvest stalks at ground level. Cut off lower bulb and remove the tough outer leaves.

Lemon Grass stalks can be frozen whole or in smaller pieces for about 6 months.
